The Grin

The whole day was spent without any PDA.

I don’t know why, it just happened that way.

Maybe its because we had just met IRL,

It’s amazing what can come from a little URL.

An Ocean, Zim, Rick and Morty plus a campfire,

How long was I going to wait for something to transpire?

You needed some UV, of the artificial variety,

So we hopped in a Lyft and made it a priority.

We headed to a place “where people take aim”

but the store left us with a feeling of disdain.

As we headed back to count the final hours together,

I thought to myself “another moment like this might not come up in forever”

We called another Lyft to go back from whence we came,

Determined to let this cab ride be different, and not the same.

I put my hand on her knee, I was trying to be smooth.

She put her hand on top of mine, in one sweeping move.

I didn’t look at her face but I used my peripheral.

And what I saw from my corners was anything but dismal.

A smile on her face as wide as her cheeks,

I don’t think I’ve yet seen her face show so much teeth.

In that one simple moment I knew shouldn’t have waited,

I could have had this moment sooner, but I wasn’t complain’n

It was a good weekend, which unfortunately had to end.

My biggest take away? My hand and your grin.
